Trade, Retail & Events

Importers, distributors, retailers, and event businesses.

The shape of it here

Trading businesses carry other people's brands, which means they operate under permissions they often can't produce on request. A principal grants the right to use its marks in a distribution agreement signed years ago by someone who has left. Meanwhile the trading company's own name — the one that actually accrues the relationships — is frequently the least protected asset in the building.

Event businesses have the inverse problem: the brand is everything and the work is ephemeral. The photography from last season's weddings is the entire portfolio, and its rights are rarely in writing.

What we usually find

  • Principal brand permissions that exist verbally or in an unlocatable contract; product imagery pulled from manufacturer sites without a licence
  • The company's own name registered in one extension only, with obvious variants parked by someone else
  • A group with a parent, a trading arm, a construction arm and hotel brands that don't read as related
  • Event photography — the entire portfolio — with no written usage rights from the photographer or the couple

What we do about it

  • Brand permission audit: what you're licensed to use, from whom, and where the document is
  • Protection of the trading name itself — domains, handles, defensive registrations
  • Brand architecture that lets a multi-brand group look like one coherent company while carrying other people's marks
  • Retail and event presence: profile, listings, local search, portfolio rights secured shoot by shoot

Pillars that matter most: Ⅲ Digital Assets → Ⅰ Branding → Ⅳ Digital Marketing
